Ubisoft opened a packed press conference in their usual style with a live performance for Just Dance 2019. Once they got that out of their system it was time for a non-stop flow of new trailers and gameplay footage for some of the best looking and most anticipated upcoming games.

The first stop for the Ubisoft hype train was Beyond Good and Evil 2 with a new cinematic trailer and the announcement of community collaboration via HitRecord to bring music and visual assets to the game. This game looks magnificent and the excitement of the developers about sharing the game with the public was really great to see. There will be more shown at the inaugural BGEFest in Montpelier later this year.

A new Trials game was revealed next up with the announcement of an upcoming closed beta (sign up at trialsgame.com) for the game. Trials Rising will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch in February 2019.

Xbox had the honour of revealing The Division 2 in their press conference yesterday but Ubisoft followed that up with another cinematic trailer as well as some gameplay footage of the game. As with Trials there is a closed beta coming up for this as well later this year (sign up at thedivisiongame.com/beta) and the game is set for release March 15th 2019.

Another highlight of this press conference was gameplay footage for Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game. This one actually looks surprisingly really good. It has definite shades from Assassin’s Creed’s ship battles but it is much more fleshed out. There is a beta for this game coming up soon as well which you can sign up for at skullandbonesgame.com

Ubisoft also shared new trailers for the upcoming psychological thriller Transference (coming Q3 2018); new DLC for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle on Nintendo Switch called “Donkey Kong Adventure” (coming June 26th); new modes and an expansion for For Honor (coming 16th October) and also letting us know that For Honor is free on PC via UPlay from June 11th til 18th; and the new IP Starlink: Battle for Atlas which is coming to all consoles October 16th including Starfox exclusively in the Switch version.

The game I was most excited to see more of was of course the finale of the press conference. Assassins Creed Odyssey. Odyssey will be set in Ancient Greece and will follow Origins down the more RPG style of game than previous AC games. It will also allow you to choose to play as a male or female protagonist for the first time in the series, and you will play as your choice through the entire game.
