Ubisoft announced the next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise 3 weeks ago with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Earlier today a trailer for Black Flag was released as well as the announcement of special edition details for the game.

Set about 40 years prior to AC3, Black Flag will have you taking control of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of the last game’s protagonist Connor. Edward is a pirate which means a whole lot more of the excellent sea-faring mechanics from AC3, as well as the introduction of exploring underwater for the first time in the series.

As always with the Assassin’s Creed games this new instalment in the series has a number of special editions available for pre-order: the Black Chest Edition, the Buccaneer Edition, the Skull Edition, and the Special Edition (original I know). For details on what each includes check out these images:

The Black Chest Edition is exclusively available via pre-order from the Uplay online store, while the Buccaneer edition is exclusive to EB Games.

AC4 Black Flag - The Watch

There is also a bonus for those who pre-order the game, a special VIP program called The Watch. The activation code for The Watch will be given on a physical “Treasure Map” to customers who pre-order the game from either UPlay, EB Games, JB Hifi, or Mighty Ape. It will offer unique content giving players a bit more from the AC Universe including extra information, bonus content, an exclusive quest and other rewards.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is slated for release on October 31st 2013 on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, PS4 and “other next generation consoles”.
