A mere three days after the EB Expo Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have announced the official release date and pricing for the PlayStation Vita in Australia and New Zealand.

The release date has been set as the 23rd of February 2012 and as we all know by now the Vita will be available in two models. The 3G unit which will allow for social networking with your games on the go will be retailing at AU$449.95 and NZ$549.95, while the WiFi-only model will be AU$349.95 and NZ$449.95.

Jim Ryan, The President and CEO of SCEE had this to say:

“PlayStation Vita is an incredible device that offers the best possible portable gaming experiences, especially when combined with social connectivity to offer unique and exhilarating experiences, unparalleled in the portable entertainment market.

We’re very excited to launch a portable gaming device that goes beyond anything available on the market and delivers the uncompromised gaming experiences consumers have been asking for.”

The system is set to launch with a bevy of titles available including LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, WipEout 2048 and many more.

What do you think of the price? Do you think it is reasonable, are they asking too much, or is it a bargain for what you get? Let us know in the comments below!
