Rayman Origins (Vita)

When I got my Vita the game that I wanted to have a crack at the most was this one, Rayman Origins. After its PS3 version got the first 5/5 drop bear rating (and the only one so far) on this site when I reviewed it, I was extremely keen to see what Ubisoft Montpellier could do with it on the Vita. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Creating a brand new action RPG is no easy task, but 38 Studios have stepped up to the plate with Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning. No one can deny the calibre of the competition out there so they definitely had their work cut out for them, and for a first crack at it they have done pretty well. Read more…

Dynasty Warriors: NEXT (Vita)

Woo yeah, Dynasty Warriors! I love this series to death; it has heaps of re-playability, a huge roster of characters you can play, lots of unlockables, and anyone can pick it up and have a go. If you’re unfamiliar with this series, it’s a hack and slash game with a story loosely based on the historical Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The three kingdoms of Wei, Wu and Shu, each with different leaders, have the same goal of uniting China under their own banner, but each has a different idea on how to go about it. The Chinese novel was based on actual events, so most of the characters in Dynasty Warriors are just re-imagined versions of their historical counterparts. Read more…

Tribes Ascend: Closed Beta Experience

Late in 2010 Hi-Rez Studios announced they were taking over the Tribes franchise and had two games in the works with one being an MMO and the other being a multiplayer-only FPS. Well, one of these is currently in closed beta and we’ve scored a key to have some fun with! Read more…

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

The Uncharted franchise has been a powerhouse for Sony ever since the original Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released back in 2007. For those of you who don’t know the series, the Uncharted games are very story driven 3rd-person action adventures. The classic “Indiana Jones”-style charm of the games has resulted in the series as a whole selling over 12 million copies. Developer Naughty Dog set a pretty high bar after the masterpiece that was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, so I was left greatly anticipating the third entry in the series.

Rayman Origins

Every now and then a great 2D platformer pops up in the gaming world. For example you might have read my review for Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken a couple of weeks ago which was one such game. Now Ubisoft are stepping it up with the fourth game in the 15 year old Rayman series: Rayman Origins; and I think calling it a great platformer is a bit of an understatement. Read more…

FIFA 12

The latest FIFA soccer game was recently put in my hands with the instructions to write a review for it. Having played every FIFA game since 1998 it has always been great checking out what’s new and what has changed in each new iteration. Although FIFA 11 wasn’t a massive step up from 10, EA Canada have definitely done a good job of upsetting some hardcore fans with their latest changes, and yet they’ve still managed to kick a goal with FIFA 12. Modern Warfare 3

Lots of reviews for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are already available, but it would be irresponsible for Drop Bear Gaming to not do the same.  Over the past 48 hours since its release, I’ve had the luxury to sit down with the Single Player campaign, Spec Ops, and Multiplayer. Read more…
